It’s great to be back!

A week has passed since we re-opened our clubs to offer members outdoor fitness workouts, so we caught up with two Busylizzy franchise owners to find out what it’s like to be back, what our members have had to say and what do fitness classes look like now.

Lauren Gaydon – Owner of Busylizzy in Elmbridge re-opened her classes on 20th July said “It has felt so good to be outdoors and meeting new mums once again, the hardest part now though is not being able to steal cuddles from their little ones while they workout!”

Lauren continued, “I have been in awe of mums who have given birth in lockdown and are now venturing out for the first time, one of my mums last week who attended Mummy and Me Yoga at Painshill (the perfect zen setting for a yoga class!) was there with her 11 week old baby girl and said it was her first time leaving the house on her own with her baby! I still remember what a big deal that felt for me doing that with my daughter nearly 4 years ago and I hadn’t just come out of 3 months of lockdown!”

At Busylizzy, to keep things as safe as possible we are making sure mums are spread out more than 2 metres for their workouts – we have the space in our great outdoor venues so taking full advantage. With Busylizzy’s handy app and booking system we have all details of our members safely stored for track and trace and we have asked members to bring their own equipment so there is no need for any close interaction between our members and instructors keeping them both safe as possible. Even our high fives are socially distant!

In Cheltenham, Amy Clarke launched her Busylizzy business in March 2020 so lockdown abruptly closed her new venture. Undeterred, Amy was the first Busylizzy club to reopen in July and offer classes for her local families. Amy told us “I felt genuinely excited about starting our Busylizzy Cheltenham classes again and it hasn’t been a disappointment! It’s been so lovely seeing our members again, and meeting some new ones too!”

Amy added, “we selected a park to use that we knew wouldn’t be too busy, lovely spaces by small trees for shade/shelter and only the occasional dog walker passing by. We use markers to give each member their own area, all exercises use bodyweight only (no equipment needed) and we make sure we are minimum 2 metres apart.”

Cheltenham member Tamara Hopkins said “I’ve loved being back at classes, still fun being outside, better even after months of lockdown! Enthusiastic instructors just make me appreciate exercising and fresh air with my baby even more, there’s nothing like being distracted whilst you work those tired stomach muscles!”

So there you have it. Busylizzy fitness classes are back this summer and the feedback has been incredible. If you would like to know more about local classes in your area, simply use our interactive map to find your nearest club:
